Hi, I am using Win7Pro 64bit OS, every time when I plug my external hard drive or USB drive, Windows doesn't assign drive to them, then, I found that the error code 10 on Device Manager WPD FileSystem Volume Drive Properties. Virtual services has already started and also it already enabled 'automount' under diskpart Apart from that, Removable volume was found on 'Disk Management' but when I assign the drive, it still got nothing drive assigned, finally, what I can do is using 'Mount in the following empty NTFS folder:', that is OK, that means like Linux volume was mounted to folder! But I want to assign a drive to the volume joey.

While trying to find out why my Gateway PC does not have Bluetooth, I noticed this: I ran the troubleshooter and it said it couldn't identify the problem. I clicked the 'View detailed information' and this came up: Devices and Printers Publisher details Issues found Problem with PnP devices Problem with PnP devices There are problems with some PnP devices. Package Version: 1.0 Publisher: Microsoft Windows I noted that the problem involved my PnP devices, so I closed the troubleshooter, ejected all of my USB connected devices & unplugged them from my PC. Note: I am running 4 external HDDs (2 - 2TB & 2 5TB + 1 - 7GB Flash/Thumb Drive). ALL of which are running perfectly Then I opened my 'Device Manager' That was when I noticed these 4 Errors: All 4 errors are the same: After doing some research, I 'Uninstalled' all 4 drivers & rebooted.
But they keep self replicating, no matter how many times I uninstall. I then ran a SFC /scannow. The CBS Log is attached. SYSTEM INFO: Gateway Desktop PC Model Number: DX4860-UR14P Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 (downgraded from Win 8.1) Any help would be highly appreciated. Thank You, Lynx560. Dear Sir, Thank you very much for your time.

I followed the directions exactly as given in the above page: I tried to Update the Drivers as shown on this page. But: I ran a second SFC Scan as instructed in Step 1 The scan found some corrupt files & was unable to fix some of them The CBS.log file has been attached.
I'm not good at detecting issues in the CBS log but you can attempt the following and see if it helps. Not the GUI version.
Add/Remove program shares the same function as 'Uninstall a program' in Windows 7 & 8. Locate Microsoft WPD FileSystem Volume Driver in the list, click the Remove button on its right side. Just like what was mentioned above, the uninstall wizard will guide you to uninstall Microsoft WPD FileSystem Volume Driver.
Unzip the file to a folder on your desktop. In that folder is a folder called x64. Copy this folder to the root of C. Unmount every external drive (Safely Eject) and detach the cable. Do a complete shutdown. Open a command prompt and type shutdown /f /s /t 0 Boot the computer and open Device Manager. If you still see WFD errors, stop.
The following will most likely not work. Open an elevated command prompt.
Type CMD in the search box Right click run as Administrator. Type the following commands cd c: x64 devicecleanupcmd. This removes all non-present devices. After it has finished attaching a external device will reinstall the driver. Attach one device at a time.
After you attach one drive open Device Manager. Do you have a yellow exclamation mark before WPD file system?
Because this was a downgrade from 8.1 perhaps Windows 7 does not have the correct driver for the UMBus Enumerator. This is the only idea I have other than updating your chipset drivers. Do you use Hibernation? Hopefully other people can add to the thread. PROBLEM SOLVED!!! While doing some more research, I read somewhere that you can get Code 10 errors from card readers. I noted that I have 5 unused card slots on my PC & 5 errors in my Device Manager.

(It should be noted that nowhere in the device properties does it say anything about which port was in error) I opened my Disk Manager & saw that I had 5 Removable Disks with no Drive Letters assigned. I assigned a drive letter to each 'Removable Drive' (V: Z:) and rebooted my PC Upon restart, I checked my Device Manager and ALL ERRORS WERE GONE!!!
I can't believe this was all about DRIVE LETTERS!!! Many thanks to all who helped out!
Please mark this as ' Solved' (PS: You may want to keep this somewhere for future reference) Edited by Lynx560, 06 January 2018 - 05:17 PM.
